What is an RTK base station?
An RTK base station is a fixed GNSS receiver placed on a known or unknown point. It used satellite signals to continuously calculate its position. Then it sends real-time correction data to a rover in the field. Thus, your rover can achieve maximum accuracy, up to centimeters. This practice replaces you being off by several metres using GPS alone.
What is a VBOX RTK base station?
The VBOX RTK Base Station can be used to improve the positional accuracy of VBOX GPS systems, by calculating and then transmitting differential correction data via radio to allow the roving GPS system to correct its position.
Do you need an RTK base station?
Historically, RTK users have been required to setup and maintain their own RTK base station. This is expensive and inconvenient. Many federal, state and local government agencies have setup RTK bases to increase RTK efficiency for their employees. Many of them make the RTK base data available to the public for free or for a nominal cost.

The DGNSS RTK base station improves the positional accuracy of VBOX units and other compatible GNSS systems by calculating and transmitting differential correction data. The VBOX Base Station features a survey grade multi-band receiver with GPSL1/L2/L1C/L2C, GLONASS L1/L2, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b, and BeiDou B1/B2.
